This unique very light-textured water-based serum is made to be used day and night; alone for oilier skin that requires lighter moisture, or as the basis for layering a more substantial moisturizer or nighttime treatments when skin requires additional supplementation. Formulated on TCM principles to support maximal balance, clarity, regulation and protection, Primary Elixir is recommend as an absolute basic, for use as the first-line application to bare skin after cleansing and then layered as appropriate with other products according to need. To the very best of our ability we have created here the ideal symbiosis of yin and yang.

  • Directions for use

    Dispense several drops onto fingers and spread over face and neck to balance and harmonize. Use daily, as part of a morning skin care routine; as well as at night before bed; on clean, hydrated skin before applying other products. Primary Elixir may be employed alone as an oil-free* moisturizer if desired. Discontinue if irritation develops.

      Really nice product! I like the way it smells too, natural but pretty. This brand is like that in general, kind of expensive but high-quality and good customer service. I use a lot of their products and they are all super-effective and nice-smelling/feeling on the skin.

      A lot of Qi Formularie products are kind of unusual. This one is particularly so, and when I first saw it – kind of brown and syrupy – I wasn’t sure. However the smell and skin feel are pleasantly surprising, and it works very very well to deliver and sustain a dewy soft glow. This is going into my routine, for sure. There is nothing else like it, and it does not add more than a light layer of moisture under other products.

      Thought this was something I’d use once in a while, but I use it every day! It smells kind of sweet/herbal/earthy which is very pleasant. It does look an unusual light brown color, but I got used to that as soon as I realized how well it was working.

      Primary Elixir is the first product I tried from Qi Formularie, years ago now. I can honestly say it is the core of my skincare routine, and the reason my skin looks, feels, and behaves so, so consistently healthy.
      Before I tried this, my skin was combination, kind of randomly sensitive, acneic, uneven and I couldn’t really figure out why. This Elixir solved everything. I never have to worry about my skin surprising me any more! I will never be without this. And, like some ‘miracle’ products, this doesn’t have a smell or texture you have to ‘tolerate’ as a trade-off for effe liveness. It manages to smell pretty, mild and pleasant – very natural, no fragrance – but just the ingredients themselves make it very very easy to wear daily. Qi Formularie is the best for coming up with this Elixir!!

      This serum is strange-looking – brown, more liquid than serum – but it works incredibly well! It is much more effective than I expected when I decided to give it a try. That was months ago, so at this point, I have to credit this Primary Elixir with the complete transformation of my skin, since I have not changed anything else about my skincare routine otherwise.       I use this as my only moisturizer, which the site says is OK to do. It is all I need, at least in the summer. For winter I might put something thicker over it. Makes my skin incredibly soft and no breakouts!
